Let’s dig in.

Execute your plan
President Trump's highly anticipated trade "Liberation Day" has arrived – with his big, long-awaited tariff announcement coming today at 4pm ET from the White House Rose Garden.
Per CNBC: “Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent told lawmakers on Tuesday that the tariffs coming into effect on Wednesday will be the highest amount set and serve as a ‘cap’” – which would subsequently be negotiated down in the coming days, weeks, and months.
Wall Street is worried that our economy will buckle under the weight of Trump's tariffs. That’s validated by many sentiment indicators that are in total free fall. Meanwhile, the near-term economic data has been mixed, although tilting down with a negative bias.
Whatever the outcome is and the accompanying knock-on effects, today marks an important clearing event.
As the old adage “markets don’t like uncertainty” suggests, investors have been left in a fear-like state of paralysis over the last two months.
Remember, investors can handle bad news. They digest it, discount it, and move past it. But, how can the market move forward when we don’t have clear policy and direction?
Well, today we finally get answers.
Like them or not, it allows the market to move forward – whether that be higher or lower.
Do I know what will be announced? No.
Does anyone else? No.
The complete unknown is what has this market on full tilt.
So, the best path forward for investors is to remain disciplined and stay on target.
As investors, we must consider all possible outcomes – from the most obvious to the least expected – so we are best prepared for whatever Mr. Market throws our way.
Upside surprise? Move your chess pieces accordingly.
Downside surprise? It’s pawn instead of bishop.
No matter how today shakes out, come up with your gameplan and stick to it.
Investing is often a game of expectations management.
Developing a playbook ahead of time allows us to be ready no matter what, while also keeping our emotions in check.
Execute your plan.
That’s all for today.
